Who We Are

Residential Treatment Centers · Anchorage · Palmer
Children and Teens (ages 6
to 17)

Some young people have very complex problems. These children start with a stay at North Star Hospital. Then, when safe from the crisis behavior that brought the child to the hospital, he or she may transition to the residential treatment center in Anchorage or Palmer. This is a lower-intensity program where children learn to make long-term lifestyle changes before returning to their communities. Children and teens live in the homelike center for up to 12 months. During that time, they learn coping and life skills, attend school, and may prepare for jobs and community life when they return home. Common issues addressed during individual and group therapies include:

  • Anger Management Skill Development
  • Impulse Control Development
  • Decision Making Skill Development
  • Depression
  • Anxiety Disorders
  • Attention Deficit Disorders
  • Physical/Sexual/Emotional Abuse Histories
  • Substance Abuse
  • Family Conflict
  • Oppositional Disorders
  • Social Skill Development and more.

Our treatment center in Palmer is specially designed for children and teens to take full advantage of the Alaskan surroundings with its wilderness-based program.
